The Luddites opposed any technology that 'offended the commonality'. They destroyed textile machines because they concentrated power and wealth in the hands of factory owners. Web activists want to find ways to use technology for good. The web is evolving to become participatory, user-controlled and is eroding the power of the traditional media elite. Maybe the Luddites would have approved.
